PAGE 99 Panel 1: Wide panel. Clow sits on the left of the panel, with Charlie and Jared on the right. Clow closes his eyes and says, "You're not wrong." Charlie sighs. "Ok good. She just said she's trying to cleanse her new apartment." Panel 2: Wide panel. Same set-up as Panel 1. Jared leans back, smiling and saying, "See? Nothing to worry about." Charlie, eyes narrowed at him, says, "...Except for whatever Pit thing is in her home." Panel 3: Wide panel, back in Vanita's apartment in the blanket fort. King's eyes widen as they say, "Wait. Am I a pest??" Vanita, looking at her phone, says, "Relax. I didn't tell her about you in particular." Panel 4: Vanita's talking carries into this panel as she says, "She doesn't need to know EVERYthing." Close up on Clow as he asks, "...May I come along to this library meet-up?"   • PAGE 94 Panel 1: Wide panel. King frames the shot with their head and raised finger as they say, "Regius Black." Vanita, framed in the image, grimaces and hisses. Panel 2: Wide panel, close up on King. "If I may guess," they say, "...all of his books are burned, aren't they?" Panel 3: Wide panel, close up on Vanita. She pokes two fingers together, looking away while saying, "Not all of them! Just most of them. But the ones that survived are uh..." Panel 4: Wide panel. We see a wide establishing shot of the exterior of a library, with three stories of height and sparsely decorated with trees on the surrounding lawns. Vanita, off-panel, says, "...Rare. So rare that bookstores don't sell reprints."

  • PAGE 93 Panel 1: Wide panel. Under the blanket fort shadow, sitting on the floor in front of the green couch, Vanita and King sit side-by-side. Their dinner plates sit on the couch cushion by their heads, with leftover chicken bones and forks. King, looking thoughtful, recollects as they say, "I recall a drawing on the floor. A seven-pointed star...and seven black candles. One at each point of the star." Panel 2: Wide panel, close up on King looking puzzled. "I don't recall the exact incantation," they say. "...But I remember it had been copied from another book..." Panel 3: Vanita asks, "Do you remember the book?" King raises a finger, face lighting up with recognition. "Not exactly," they say. "I think it was something-or other Incantorum. But I remember the author!"

We hear from inside the apartment, "You mentioned a spell before dinner. One that can send people to the Pit... Panel 3: Wide panel. Closer in on the sliding glass door opening into Vanita's apartment. There's enough of a crack in the curtain for the speech bubble to come through. Vanita asks, "...Do you remember any of it?" Panel 4: Inside the apartment. We see the blanket fort. Under the covering, King says, "Hmm..."

  • PAGE 91 Panel 1: wide panel. Clow, Charlie, and Jared are gathered around Charlie's phone. Charlie says, "Alright. Try to enjoy the rest of your night." Claudia (from the phone) says, "We will. You too. Be safe." Panel 2: Close up on Charlie's hand holding the phone. Charlie says, "'k. Night!" Claudia from the phone says, "Night." And Charlie hangs up. Panel 3: Medium shot of Clow, Charlie, and Jared. Jared says, "You two ever consider operating a detective agency?" Panel 4: Charlie and Clow smirk. Charlie says, "Dude. Our specialty is a little...niche." Panel 5: Medium shot of Jared, "I'm just saying." Panel 6: Wide panel. We zoom out, looking through an apartment window at Charlie, Clow, and Jared in their living room, going back to life as usual.

Don holds one hand on Claudia's as she holds the phone. Don says, "If I knew for certain, we wouldn't have called." Panel 3: Closer in on Claudia. She says, "Think you could investigate this for us, please?" Panel 4: We look over Charlie's shoulder and down to her phone. She says, "I've got her number. We'll see what we can do." Claudia (on the phone) says, "Thank you! Let's just hope it's not another Halloween incident." Panel 5: At this angle, we see a medium close-up on Charlie and her brother Jared. What Charlie says startles Jared. Charlie says, "Let's hope not. Got anything else that could help us?" Panel 6: Close up on Charlie's phone. Claudia (on the phone) says, "If we think of anything, we'll text you." Charlie (off-panel) says, "Sounds good. I'll keep you posted as we find out more."

As tends to be the case with the best paranormal comics of this type, the main draw is that it's all about the relationships-- relationships that aren't exactly steamy, they're more caring...."
